Uplink Screening

I'm pleased to announce that my film "New Neighbor" will be enjoying a week of screenings at UPLINK, Shibuya's famous art house movie theater.

The film runs from 10/5 ~ 10/11, which is cool because October is my favorite month of the year. (Not sure how relevant that really is...)

The screenings start each night at 9pm. As it's only a 40mins opus I'll be holding events following each screening with different guests connected to the film or to my professional filmmaking life in Japan.

Here's the schedule:

10/5: Opening Night with the cast: Ayano, Asami, Kentaro Kishi, Takashi Nishina, Yohta Kawase, Tomoko Hayakawa.

10/6: Special live performance by stars Ayano and Asami. Be sure to cover your virgin ears for this one.

10/7: Directors Night: Shusuke Kaneko & Yoshihiro Nishimura. We'll be talking shop. Possible attendance by Noboru Iguchi too.

10/8: The Odd Couple: Ayano and Norman. This should be weird...

10/9: Boy's Night Out: Kentaro Kishi, Takashi Nishina, Yohta Kawase. If Demo Tanaka gets his act together he'll be here as well. I expect us to complain about Japanese women all night long.

10/10: Norman vs Yoshiki Takahashi. This night will be a screening with ENGLISH SUBTITLES! If there are enough non-Japanese in the audience I plan to run the "event" in English. If so, I also plan to curse a lot. Yoshiki will probably curse a lot too. It should be a fu*kin' blast!

10/11: Sayonara night: Asami, Kentaro Kishi, Takashi Nishina, Yohta Kawase, Tomoko Hayakawa, Yoshiki Takahashi. Be sure to bring plenty of tissue as there won't be a dry eye in the theater!

Tickets are 1,200 yen or 1,000 yen for UPLINK members and college students. Tickets will be sold on the day of the screening at the UPLINK boxoffice.

Here's a link to the "how to get here" page at UPLINK's website:

One thing that really pleases me is to see "New Neighbor" listed on these websites:

The first is Pia, which used to be a magazine but folded as so many magazines seem to be doing these days. But they are still going strong on-line as a source of entertainment information:

Also in this vein is "Eiga.com,"another source for what's playing in theaters in Japan.

Both these listings are kind of more than I expected and kind of make all the difficulties of making the film a little easier to bear.

Like any director, I'm hoping for a decent turn-out and moreover, I'm hoping people enjoy the film and feel that they've seen something different from the normal run of self-produced films.
